Store Your Camping Equipment

Right now we’re at the height of the summer with school holidays about to begin and lots of planned camping trips taking place.

As we move out of summer and into autumn and winter have you considered storing your camping equipment safely and securely until next year?

Camping kit takes up a lot of space! The tent, bedding, gas stove, clothing, boots, airbeds and often fishing gear. That’s a lot of space taken up in your garage or shed for gear that’s only used seasonally.

We have lots of customers who store seasonal camping equipment with us and we have some amazing tips to get the most out of using a self storage unit.

Clean and Dry

The last thing you want is to unpack dirty, smelly and damp kit so make sure it’s clean, dry and well aired before packing up into storage. One of our customers gave us a great tip of spritzing with anti-bac spray for freshness but always check manufacturers guidelines before doing this.

Always make sure to do any repairs before storing so you don’t have nasty surprises next time you’re off on a camping trip.

Label and Box

Box up and label items that are easy to misplace, especially smaller items like your mugs, cutlery, bottle openers etc. Using a simple inventory will help keep you organised.

Forbidden Items

Whilst storing camping gear in a self storage unit is a great idea there may be some items that you cannot store. Check with your local branch but items like gas canisters and torch batteries may be forbidden. If in doubt ask one of our team, we’re here to help.
