Urmston is a moderately large town in Greater Manchester, historically part of Lancashire, which thanks to its road network and railway access has been a hub of activity since the 19th century.

Originally classified as a Middle-Class retreat Urmston has experienced many ups and downs in economic fortunes over the years. Today Urmston is now considered one of the 4 main Urban Areas of Trafford and has seen much change over the last 12 years in particular.

In the 1960s the town centre was redeveloped creating a modern town square called Urmston Precinct, filled with shops and cafes. This was torn down and rebuilt in 2007. The Trafford Centre is cited as the primary reason why Urmston went into decline, and why the Eden Square project was pursued.

Having the benefit of its own railway station with an eight minute journey time to the centre of Manchester and being included within the expansion plan for Metro Tram system, house prices have increased substantially over the past two years to 2019.
